Current Projects

Like most live theater companies, the current health crisis has affected Umbrella Theater's activities. We have a number of projects in the works that we hope to be able to do when things settle down.

  • We had hoped to present a fully-staged version of Thomas Kee's Mary's Little Monster in early April, but had to suspend production while in rehearsals. We would have been only the second theater company to present this work, which was schedule to open Off-Broaday in May. We hope to present it as a free reading if the cast is still available when things open up.
  • We are sponsoring The Grand's production of The Producers, originally scheduled to open on May 14th and now postponed. Directed by Umbrella's artistic director, Jamie Rocha Allan, and designed by Umbrella's technical director, Cara Pomeroy, Umbrella is providing significant support for improving the technical aspects of the show.
  • We are also a sponsor for Sackerson's MITE Fest (Micro Immersive Theatre/Experience Festival), originally scheduled for June 11th through 21st.
  • We are hoping to present Proof at the Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts' stage at the end of July.
  • We will be co-producting Motley Wandering Minstrels' in-concert production of Gilbert & Sullivan's Iolanthe at the Sorenson Center on September 17th through 19th and at the Holladay City Hall on September 25th.
  • We hope to co-produce On Pitch Performing Arts' production of Stephen Sondheim's Assassins at their their theater in Layton November 6th through 14th, handling the set and technical design of the production.
